YUVA also known as TOHUM CENTER is the perfect Mediterranean Seaside Retreat for groups or individuals desiring to attend Yoga or other Healing Arts Workshops. It is also a wonderful place for couples, families or friends who are planning
a peaceful and healthful holiday.
The center is located on a 400 acres protected pine forest and offers about 1 km of coastal access to the pristine turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. The nearest villages are the picturesque Faralya and Kabak, neighboring the dramatic gorge of the Butterfly Valley and the spectacular Oludeniz Lagoon. The nearest town is Fethiye , the ancient Telmessos, a picturesque port with lively street markets, restaurants and shops. Access to the center is by a 14 km windy dirt road edging the Butterfly Valley gorge. The well advertised Lycian Path begins here and continues along 500km all the way to Antalya. This area is a paradise for swimming and hiking. Paragliding and diving are available at Oludeniz. YUVA’S GROUNDS AND SWIMMING AREAS Yuva means nest in Turkish. The grounds are in perfect seclusion, nestled on a small peninsula visible from Oludeniz. Playful paths cut through the aromatic flora of wild plants and descend to the refreshing waters of the Mediterranean. No sandy beaches are to be found here, rather a many miles long spectacular rocky coastline presents swimming areas for experienced swimmers. Beginners or children are welcome to use the nearby pebbly village beach where access to the sea is easy. YUVA food artisans create delicious, well-balanced, mostly organic vegetarian dishes by using nutritious TOHUM products. In our cooking, we use whole grains, beans, freshly picked vegetables, fruits, nuts and wild herbs which abound in our organic gardens and surrounding fields. No refined sugars, meat, chemical or artificially processed foods are available. Fish can be eaten sometimes at the Center or in restaurants during trips. Freshly made dairy products are available in the village. ACTIVITIES: JUST RELAXING: YUVA presents a lovely environment for escaping from everyday life. All the elements of nature are at their purest, offering maximum relaxation and rejuvenation for all senses. This might be your moment to just let go and re-charge your body and mind. Writers, poets, painters, musicians will find here plenty of material for inspiration and maybe finish that unfinished book, or paint that unforgettable landscape.... HIKING: The village offers many hiking possibilities. Daylong hikes can be organized to the secluded cove of Kabak where one can swim and suntan on a beautiful sandy beach. From Kabak, one can get onto the Lycian Way and visit enchanted hidden waterfalls - home to endangered species of butterflies-, on the way to mountain villages with spectacular views of the region . SIGHTSEEING: The daily village bus service will take you to the Oludeniz Lagoon where one can swim on a beach of rare beauty. Oludeniz gets rather touristy on peak season but is very peaceful in the Spring and Fall. The bus ends up in the town of Fethiye, excellent for dining and shopping or experiencing a traditional Turkish Bath (Hamam). Daily tour buses offer trips to nearby archeological sites and boats offer cruises to secluded islands. The Center is situated on White Cape, near the Oludeniz Lagoon, on the Western corner of the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, right where the Aegean and the Mediterranean meet. The nearest town is Fethiye and the closest island is Rhodes (Greece). By air: The nearest airports are Dalaman (1½ hrs.) and Antalya (3½ hrs). Some airlines offer direct flights to these airports from Europe or the U.S. during the summer months. Otherwise the best way is to connect via Istanbul. There are continuous Turkish Airlines bus services to Fethiye from Dalaman airport. TOHUM staff will pick you up from the Turkish Airlines terminal in Fethiye, provided they are advised beforehand. Those arriving to Antalya airport should make arrangements to be picked up by TOHUM staff from the airport, or take a taxi into Antalya's bus station and get a bus to Fethiye. TOHUM staff will pick you up from the bus terminal in Fethiye, provided they are advised beforehand. By sea: a very pleasant way to arrive is to take a four hour ferry ride to Fethiye from Rhodes, Greece. Check with TOHUM offices offices on ferry schedules.
